Description:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of transit operations. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, managing of personnel, ensuring effective operation.

Duties:

  • Manage, lead, motivate, and direct staff; prepare and approve time sheets and attendance reports,troubleshoot payroll documents, handle employee relations and discipline, listen to and addressoperator concerns/grievances, and meet with Union representatives to discuss issues.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with organization officials and staff members as necessary.
  • Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees as needed, or oversee those personnel processes.
  • Oversee activities directly related to ensuring runs operate efficiently and all coaches stay in service.
  • Respond to service operation issues as needed in service.
  • Prepare and manage reports including but not limited to operator, accident, and budget reports.
  • Manage operator attendance and daily work assignments to assure sufficient and effective staffing to meet daily service needs.
  • Assist Performance Managers with oversight and direction of operations to ensure achievement of on time performance, customer service, and safety goals and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate, and an Associate Degree in Business is a plus.
  • Five (5) years transit operations experience.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet.
  • Maintain a current CDL with appropriate endorsements.
  • Working knowledge of transit operations system, policies, and procedures.
  • Competent in assessing employee skills: coaches, delegates, and supports employee development. Provides constructive feedback.
