| This position will assume overall responsibility for the Boar’s Head production planning department. In addition the Manager of Production Planning will facilitate short and long-range capacity and other planning throughout the Boar’s Head Supply Chain including but not restricted to Manufacturing. The Manager of Production Planning will facilitate logistical decision making on behalf of Manufacturing to yield the best outcome for Boar’s Head and our Distributors. The Manager of Production Planning will also serve as a primary liaison to Distribution, R&D, Sales and Marketing for the purpose of communicating and resolving issues related to new and existing products on behalf of Manufacturing. |
Duties: |
Capacity Planning
•Work with Plant Managers to develop and maintain a model or other analyses to analyze and forecast capacity constraints for each manufacturing facility on a short term and long-term basis.
•Work with plant management personnel to identify, recommend, and implement strategies and actions to address capacity issues.
•Assist in short-term and long-term budget planning with focus on capacity issues.
•Coordinate with Plant, Engineering and R&D personnel to plan and develop strategies that will address process changes and new product production.
New Product Development
•Participate in the new product development process in order to insure that all logistical concerns are identified and mitigated from a manufacturing perspective in order to maximize our capabilities and meet our distributor, retailer and consumer’s expectations.
•Identify issues and recommend solutions/alternatives relating to new product launches, including planning, logistical and execution matters as related to the company’s existing characteristics.
Production Planning
•Coordinate with each location to provide guidance and support relating to issues regarding current production inventories as well as projections.
•Facilitate and improve communication of production planning issues.
•Identify and recommend solutions leading to improvement of supply chain issues in producing or purchasing products.
•Assist in planning aspect of the annual budget process.
Oracle
•Facilitate the Oracle implementation efforts for manufacturing in each location.
•Support each plant management team during implementation to insure that local needs are communicated to Oracle Primary Team as well as insuring appropriate business process changes are made to ensure the success of the Oracle system.
•Identify and recommend ways that the Oracle system can be utilized to bring greater efficiency to plant operations.
Other
•Participate in Senior Operations Group monthly conference calls and quarterly meetings sharing insights into planning and logistical issues.
•Assist in the planning and execution of our company wide efforts to develop and integrated planning and reporting system.
•Coordinate the Capital Budget Process for all 4 manufacturing facilities to insure appropriate management of budget and facility needs.
•Identify and recommend solutions relating to the Facilities and Maintenance inventory levels.
•Work with support departments to ensure process changes within support areas that impact production are communicated and implemented successfully.

Qualifications: |
•B.S. in Business or Supply Chain, MBA preferred
•7 -10 years experience in meat industry management roles.
•Advanced analytical skills and ability to evaluate multiple alternatives to yield the best decision.
•Advanced experience and training in managing projects.
•Breadth of Supply Chain experience in a food manufacturing and distribution business environment
•Specific short and long-range planning experience highly preferred.
•Excellent oral and written communication required.
•Experience, comfort and skill with personal computers including the Microsoft suite of applications. Advanced skill in manipulating and extracting data particularly from database driven systems.
•Knowledge of advanced planning techniques required.
•Ability to create and defend a logical argument to support a position.
•Comfortable interacting with manufacturing management, colleagues and upper management in both informal and formal settings.
