Meritec is seeking a detail-oriented Stamping Die Design Engineer to design and develop high-precision progressive dies, fixtures, and tooling for the production of connector contacts and related components. This role focuses on precision die design, documentation, and fixture development, supporting Meritec’s high-performance connector manufacturing operations.
Essential Responsibilities
• Design and develop progressive stamping dies and fixtures for connector contacts and components.
• Create detailed 2D/3D designs using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Work with Minster 210 and 215 presses running modular dies.
• Document designs, revisions, and die requirements accurately.
• Collaborate with tooling and production teams during builds and trials.
• Conduct troubleshooting and improvement of die and fixture performance.
• Provide process support where applicable to optimize manufacturability.
Qualifications and Requirements
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in tooling or die design, preferably for connectors, contacts, or small precision stampings.
• Connector or precision electrical component experience required.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design tools.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and copper alloys used in precision stamping.
• Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and high-speed progressive tooling.
• Excellent documentation, analytical, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with fixture design and root-cause problem-solving for tooling issues.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Exposure to knowledge transfer and standardization of die design processes.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods, up to 8 hours per workday.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, and office equipment.
• Ability to move about inside the office and occasionally in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, or crouch to access files, equipment, or supplies.
• Must be able to lift, carry, or move objects up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, binders, or office supplies).
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus as required for computer use and reviewing printed materials.
• Position may occasionally require use of appropriate PPE (e.g., safety glasses, footwear) when entering production areas.
