Job Title: Escrow Officer

Job Summary: The Escrow Officer is responsible for managing the escrow process in real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and facilitating smooth closings. This role involves working closely with buyers, sellers, real estate agents, and lenders to coordinate the transfer of funds, documents, and property ownership, while maintaining accurate records and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Escrow Process: Oversee all aspects of the escrow process, including opening and closing escrow accounts, processing funds, and preparing necessary documentation for real estate transactions.
  • Coordinate with Stakeholders: Act as a liaison between buyers, sellers, real estate agents, and lenders to ensure a seamless transaction, resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and review escrow instructions, title documents, closing statements, and other related documents to ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Compliance & Due Diligence: Ensure all transactions comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Perform due diligence to verify the accuracy of documents, ownership, title, and liens.
  • Disburse Funds: Manage the distribution of funds to the appropriate parties, ensuring all financial transactions are accurate, recorded, and securely handled.
  • Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding clients through the escrow process with clarity and professionalism.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized, accurate records of each escrow transaction for auditing and reference purposes. Ensure timely updates in the escrow management system.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and address any potential issues or discrepancies in the transaction process, ensuring all problems are resolved promptly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in an escrow, title, or real estate environment, with a thorough understanding of real estate transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate laws, regulations, and best practices related to escrow.
  • Proficiency in escrow management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Notary Public certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual capabilities may be beneficial depending on the customer base.
  • Experience with complex residential and commercial real estate transactions.
