Job Description
Join our team as a Medical Physicist, where you will play a crucial role in evaluating dosimetry characteristics, conducting final reviews of treatment plans, and managing the treatment planning system. You will ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of radiation therapy procedures and contribute to optimizing patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate dosimetry characteristics for various radiation types and equipment, including high-energy x-rays and electrons.
- Conduct final reviews of treatment plans to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Manage the treatment planning system, including plan creation and providing guidance and technical direction for radiation therapy procedures.
- Calculate and verify tumor doses, establishing and monitoring basic dosage levels.
- Perform linear accelerator beam analysis, periodic calibration, and maintenance.
- Assist in assessing diagnostic and treatment methods to optimize patient outcomes.
- Engage in treatment planning, patient monitoring, and ensuring precise delivery.
- Participate in patient-specific quality assurance processes.
- Lead the evaluation, planning, and acquisition of major equipment, including acceptance testing and commissioning of equipment, software, and systems.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in radiology and medical terminology.
- Experience in clinical and medical research.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, or biophysics; doctorate preferred.
- Certification from the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics, or the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine.
- Preferred two years’ clinical experience in a major radiation center.
Work Environment
The role involves both patient care and non-patient care settings, requiring frequent interaction with office staff and physicians. The work environment can be stressful at times. You may be exposed to radiation, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment. Radiation exposure will be monitored using a film badge.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $165000.00 - $240000.00/yr.
