Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Manager plays a critical role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture across a geographically dispersed workforce. Supporting over 650 employees in 9 states (and growing), this role requires a deep understanding of multi-state employment practices, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.

As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Employee Relations Manager serves as a trusted ally and coach to employees and leaders, providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, a confident communicator, and a champion of Redwood’s values and brand.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts, ensuring timely and empathetic resolution.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Employee Relations to lead comprehensive, unbiased investigations into employee complaints, policy violations, and concerns reported through the employee hotline, ensuring timely and thorough resolution.
  • Provide strategic coaching and consultation to leaders on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
  • Deliver training and guidance to supervisors on employee relations best practices, anti- discrimination, and anti-harassment standards.
  • Assist in the interpretation, implementation, and communication of HR policies related to performance, conduct, and workplace expectations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and maintenance of the national employee handbook, state specific supplements, and related policies.
  • Manage unemployment claims and collaborate with operations to appeal determinations when necessary.
  • Support the processing and follow-up of workers’ compensation claims in partnership with the Director of Employee Relations.
  • Maintain and distribute OSHA 300A logs and ensure compliance with labor law posting requirements across all locations.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of the annual EEO-1 report in accordance with federal reporting requirements.
  • Manage and administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback, identify trends, and support continuous improvement in the employee experience.
  • Support the Director of Employee Relations in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety across Redwood, including participation in safety initiatives and incident response.
  • Assist in evaluating and responding to reasonable suspicion cases, ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Leverage industry benchmarks, data analytics, and AI tools to identify trends, enhance decision- making, and drive innovation in employee relations strategies and practices.
  • Stay current on employment laws, HR trends, and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • All other related duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in employee relations or human resources.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment. In this role, the employee will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, desk phones, iPhone, photocopiers, etc. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend and walk with the ability to lift 20 pounds where applicable.
