We have a new and exciting opportunity to hire a Productivity Chemist, Powder Functionality for our Lebanon, OH Development Center. The Productivity Chemist will focus on the Seasoning product stream, responsible to improve Seasoning execution at the Manufacturing level. The efforts entail aiding Seasoning transfers from R&D to Manufacturing, supporting scale up challenges in Manufacturing, development optimization, margin improvement, material substitution reducing supply chain concerns, and aiding QC with quality challenges. Seasoning leadership and working in a cross-functional manner is critical for success in this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads internal Seasoning initiatives as needed including raw material management support, formula streamlining and cost savings. Works with Manufacturing as needed to modify existing formulations to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Engagement with Manufacturing & Business Leaders to aid margin improvement efforts
  • Liaison with Quality Control to address customer challenges and complaints
  • Liaison with Quality Control to maintain & improve Quality Control Sensory programs
  • Liaison with Procurement to mitigate issues caused by supply chain challenges
  • Interface with customers by way of virtual meetings, visits, on site meetings & travel for appropriate projects
  • Work with Engineering teams to ensure Seasoning integrity is maintained with new or changing processing equipment
  • Provides support to Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory as needed. Troubleshoots First Time Order production issues & supports approval responsibility.
  • Maintains technical expertise & is aware of advances within the industry. Promotes & expands knowledge within the team.
  • Participates in industry associations (ASTA, etc.) understanding ingredient, market, and supply trends
  • Conducts training with broader seasoning development team, communicates results, findings, trends, & formulation suggestions
  • Directs assigned project priorities, supervises, trains, teaches, & mentors any junior staff & technicians.
  • Schedules & coordinates pilot plant equipment use with the Pilot Plant Technical & Analytical Lead

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Science required
  • 5+ years in the industry as a Seasoning creator or Productivity chemist preferred

  • Self-motivated, forward thinking problem solver
  • Excellent Project Management
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Office & formulation software). SAP experience a plus.
  • Understanding of safe laboratory practices
