Job Description

As a Fiber Optic/Technical Product Specialist, you will be responsible for assembling and monitoring components needed to fulfill sample requests for customers and internal sales personnel. You will also assist product/market managers with new product development projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assemble products and fulfill customer sample requests for the Communications Market and PLP trade shows.
  • Organize and maintain local component inventory required for sample fulfillment.
  • Monitor and organize the Marketing Product Training Room.
  • Provides support for installation instructions and/or training videos.
  • Work with various departments to develop marketing collateral (sell sheets, installation instructions, quote drawings, etc.).
  • Assist product managers and/or market managers with new product development projects, including monitoring progress on projects, product assemblies to confirm functionality, cost analysis (using an ERP system), etc.
  • Assist in customer complaints and field failures.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers, the sales network, and the customer service department.
  • Participate in field trials or product installations with internal PLP sales personnel and/or manufacturing reps (travel is expected to be minimal, less than 10% for trade show preparations and customer visits).
  • Assist the Product Support Group, as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma. Interest in continued education in a technical field is recommended.
  • Proficiency with computer software, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written situations involving customers, internal personnel, and field sales service representatives.
  • Confident and able to work well with others, and with little supervision.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform strenuous work as required to demonstrate product installations in a variety of field environments.

  • Fulltime
