Travel: Low / Intermittent (occasional project site visits and Columbus office as needed)
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a people-first Director of Construction Operations to lead and elevate project delivery for industrial and mechanical construction operations based in Medina, Ohio. This senior leader works through project managers to ensure safe, high-quality construction execution, strengthen long-term client relationships, and drive consistent operational performance through servant leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in industrial mechanical construction, operational leadership, and team development, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop project managers overseeing multi-discipline construction projects, including mechanical, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and structural scopes.
- Drive a culture of safety excellence through accountability, proactive risk management, and field compliance.
- Partner with estimating and pre-construction teams to ensure constructability, effective resource planning, and realistic project scheduling.
- Monitor and optimize key performance metrics, including safety results, schedule adherence, budget performance, and client satisfaction.
- Serve as a senior operational leader with internal stakeholders and external clients, reinforcing trust, communication, and long-term partnerships.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery processes and operational systems.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align construction operations with broader organizational objectives.
- Provide limited, planned travel for project oversight and coordination with regional offices.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience leading construction operations or project teams, preferably within industrial or mechanical construction environments.
- Proven ability to influence outcomes through servant leadership and by effectively leading through others.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, execution, and delivery best practices.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
This is an office-based leadership role with regular visits to active construction sites. Candidates must be able to safely navigate industrial environments while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Travel is minimal and typically planned.
