Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills: Possesses, acquires and maintains the technical/ professional expertise required to do the job effectively. Demonstrates knowledge through problem solving, applying professional judgment and competent performance.

<li>As directed by the physician/nurse practitioner, independently performs procedures which may include venipuncture, administration of injections, pulmonary function tests, ear irrigations, ultra sound therapy, muscle stimulation, hot/cold packs, EKGs, breathing treatment, , lab testing, , dressing changes, wound cleaning, hearing and vision tests, etc.</li>
<li>Properly sets up and assists physician/nurse practitioner with surgical and medical procedures, e.g. flex sigs, colposcopy, minor wound repair, foreign body removals, etc.</li>
<li>Maintains a basic understanding of commonly dispensed pharmaceuticals, their indications, dosages, adverse reactions, and administration techniques. As directed by the physician/nurse practitioner, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Properly inventories and orders routine medical and medically-related supplies and services.</li>
<li>Upon physician/nurse practitioner order, advises patients of testing and referral results and ensures that appropriate follow-up call is provided.</li>

<li>Explains billing process for SFS patients needing lab work, and lab discount information.</li>
<li>Accurately record lab codes and diagnostic codes when drawing blood.</li>
<li>Documents and submits billing codes for nurse visits on a daily basis..</li>

Planning and Organizing: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines necessary sequence of activities needed to achieve goals.

<li>Documents messages in EMR system, handles or distributes mail and faxes.</li>
<li>Prepares patient documentation for clinician (have ER reports, test results, hospital records).</li>
<li>Keeps exam room neat, clean and supplied.</li>
<li>Responds to incoming and outgoing correspondence. Assures that appropriate signed releases are acquired and office records and forms are distributed and forwarded to appropriate parties.</li>
<li>Takes messages off of the telephone line in a timely manner as directed by the Practice Manager.</li>

Responsibilities
About the Role
During a visit that can last up to one hour, Matrix providers review and observe a member’s current health, medical history, medication adherence, social environment and other risks. This provides unmatched insight into a member’s overall health and well-being that can be difficult to capture during routine office visits. The Matrix Comprehensive Health Assessment (CHA) helps to improve quality of care and allows us to potentially close multiple care gaps with a single visit. Our providers:

<li>Conduct adult / geriatric assessments to include medical history, diagnosis and treatment, health education, physician referrals, case management referrals, follow-up and clear documentation according to Matrix guidelines and protocols</li>
<li>Administer and order point of care and lab-based testing as needed</li>
<li>Work with physicians, case managers, social workers, family members, key caregivers, and ancillary medical personnel as appropriate</li>
<li>Collaborate with Primary Care Physician (PCP) on patient education and follow up as necessary</li>

Shift Options:

<li>Must be available for any hours (1st, 2nd or 3rd shift) - 36-40 hours per week - Rotating weekends - Hours will be assigned at start someone who can be flexible with the schedule as days could change on their needs, this includes hours/shifts - but will need to work at least one weekend day per week</li>
<li>This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs</li>

Correctional Registered Nurse Overview:

<li>Provides professional nursing care to students hospitalized in student health services unit, or to inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers housed in state-owned/operated facility/institution &amp;/or staff, observes, assesses &amp; records symptoms, reactions &amp; progress of infirmary patients &amp;/or clinic out-patients, makes nursing rounds, takes &amp; records vitals, prepares &amp; administers prescribed medications &amp; ordered treatment plans &amp;/or immunizations, monitors restrained (e.g., lock-ups, detention, isolated) patients on timely bas is (i.e., every 15 minutes) &amp; provide s immediate medical attention to emergencies (e.g., administers first aid; arranges transportation to hospital emergency room; contacts staff physician when necessary; counsels patient regarding need for medical referrals) &amp; if assigned, also schedules, assigns &amp; reviews work (i.e., has authority to either approve/disapprove leave requests or to complete performance evaluations, but such is not mandatory to be performed) of lower-level staff (e.g., RNs, LP Ns), participates in staff development &amp; education, reviews care plans written by staff &amp; trains &amp; orients new employees; In corrections medical center, is responsible for all health care of 20-60 bedridden inmates (i.e., makes rounds, evaluates care needed &amp; rendered; does care plans &amp; teaches health care principles; administers medication including narcotics; renders all direct nursing care as needed) &amp; performs specialized procedures (i.e., iv therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, incubation &amp; CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning &amp; phlebotomy duties). Organizes &amp; oversees 'code blue' team; directs health care staff (e.g., hospital aides &amp; licensed practical nurses) assigned to area; acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in absence of nurse 2 employee' assists physician in giving diagnostic health evaluations to students. Performs clerical tasks (e.g., charts &amp; records all medications, treatments &amp; pertinent medical information; completes required reports such as incident &amp; accident reports; documents Medicaid information; orders supplies &amp; equipment; maintains constant &amp; exact inventory of all controlled drugs, medication &amp; equipment); arranges for out-patient clinic appointments; arranges for medical examinations to be done by school physician; arranges for new &amp; refilled prescriptions ordered by physicians through local pharmacy; performs administrative tasks &amp; serves as liaison with others in organization &amp; conducts &amp;/or attends meetings; serves as instructor on occasion; serves as member or leader of problem solving teams or groups.</li>

Correctional Registered Nurse Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures; state &amp; federal regulations, policies &amp; procedures related to nursing; public relations; employee training &amp; development; inventory control.</li>
<li>Skill in operation of medical equipment (e.g., stethoscope, otoscope, blood pressure cuff, EKG machine). Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write meaningful, concise &amp; accurate reports; gather, collate &amp; classify information about data, people or things; demonstrate physical fitness.</li>
