General Summary:
Assists pharmacist in daily routine of filling prescriptions and inventory control and assists patients at the counter or on the phone
Works under the supervision of the Pharmacist
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
1. Assist with filling prescriptions: Entering prescription information into the computer, processing refill requests, packaging, counting, and labeling of prescriptions under the direct supervision of the pharmacist
2. Pull inventory and count medications
3. Accurately receive or transfer out telephone prescription orders
- Run cash register
- Assist customers over the phone and in person
- Use professional judgment to answer drug information questions and offer counseling under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Administer vaccines
Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):
- Place orders with vendors to replenish and maintain adequate levels of pharmaceutical inventory
- Stock merchandise and various food products.
- Assist in taking inventory of prescription medications and performing various returns of prescription medication
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Ability to count accurately.
Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
Seeks additional appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
Successfully complete a pharmacy technician test as required by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Education:
HS diploma or GED. Actively enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree program at an accredited college of pharmacy
Preferred:
Previous experience in a retail Pharmacy
