Civil Defense Attorney - Cleveland, OH

A respected Cleveland law firm is seeking a Civil Defense Attorney to join its litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience representing insureds, businesses, or professionals in civil defense matters, including personal injury, product liability, premises liability, and general commercial litigation. Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Ohio Bar in good standing
  • 3+ years of experience in civil defense or insurance defense litigation
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
  • Ability to handle a varied caseload independently while working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
  • Trial or arbitration experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in civil defense matters including personal injury, premises liability, and general tort litigation
  • Manage all aspects of litigation from initial investigation through resolution or trial
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
  • Conduct depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony
  • Develop case strategies and evaluate potential exposure
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Communicate regularly with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel

Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys to achieve favorable outcomes
