Title: Mechanical Preconstruction Manager
Shift: Standard Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (or as required by project needs)
Salary: $90,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
Location: North Ridgeville, OH (Primary);
Alternate locations in Columbus, OH and surrounding areas, or Western PA (within commutable distance to Youngstown, OH)
Mechanical Preconstruction Leader Role:
This role exists to lead all mechanical estimating and planning activities during the preconstruction phase for our client's industrial and commercial projects. This individual is responsible for ensuring accurate budgets and constructability reviews for complex industrial systems, often driving projects forward from conceptual designs or limited initial information.
Mechanical Preconstruction Leader Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed mechanical estimates and budgets for heavy industrial and large-scale commercial projects
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications for industrial process accuracy and constructability
- Collaborate with design teams, owners, and trade partners to optimize industrial project scope and cost
- Lead value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities within mechanical systems
- Prepare risk assessments and provide input on procurement strategies for long-lead industrial equipment
- Maintain preconstruction schedules and ensure timely delivery of mechanical estimates
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial clients and stakeholders
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for alignment with complex project requirements
- Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure a seamless transition to the industrial operations team
- Monitor market trends and material pricing for industrial components to ensure budget accuracy
Mechanical Preconstruction Leader Reporting Relationships:
The Mechanical Preconstruction Leader reports directly to the Mechanical Group Manager and does not currently have any direct reports.
About You:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Possess 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or preconstruction with a heavy industrial focus
- Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of process piping, industrial HVAC, and mechanical systems with the ability to work from conceptual designs and limited information
- Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard estimating software
- Apply experience with BIM and virtual design tools to industrial project planning
- Show familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification in industrial environments
- Execute projects using design-build or integrated project delivery methods
- Showcase excellent communication, customer relations, and leadership skills within a professional team environment
- Maintain experience with Accubid estimating software
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities regarding complex mechanical designs
