Job Overview:
NDT uses automated and manual techniques including ultrasound, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant and visual to perform non-destructive tests to identify errors or defects in equipment. May be responsible for testing a variety of materials such as steel, stainless steel, rubber, composites, and aluminum or other mechanical components such as, storage tanks, cylinder rolls, piping and pressure vessels. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision, and typically reports to a Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and utilize Nondestructive Test equipment.
- Assist NDT Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment.
- Assist NDT Technicians conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Record results of inspections.
- Assist Technicians in performing NDT procedures and other operations.
- Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical background preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation and color vision.
- Moving, carrying, lifting, objects in excess of 50 lbs.
- Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 ft.
- Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time.
- Work in indoors and out door environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.
- Work in and near industrial hazards.
Work Environment:
- Industrial environment. Paper and steel mills.
- Occasional travel (up to 30%) throughout the nation required.
Work Hours: This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position. Shifts and hours may vary throughout the week, including weekend hours. Travel is required at times.
