Position Summary

The Scholars of H.O.P.E. Female Mentorship Instructor supports Omega Community Development Corporation's mission by empowering young women in grades 7–8 to develop confidence, respect, and leadership skills. This role involves teaching life skills, providing mentorship, and preparing students for public engagement opportunities. The instructor will collaborate with the Convocation Instructor and program staff to deliver high-quality, impactful programming in a high-need, urban environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that help students become positive, self-assured, and respectful young women.
  • Assist the Convocation Instructor in preparing youth for convocation events, focusing on audience presence, active listening, and related skills.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Maintain clear communication and collaboration with Omega CDC staff, families, scholars, Dayton Public Schools personnel, and community partners.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Omega CDC's mission, values, and culture in all aspects of work.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with children.
  • Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to different communication and work styles.
  • Belief in the power of collaboration and commitment to building positive relationships with students and partners.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a classroom or community setting.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and engage actively with students for the duration of instruction.
  • May involve lifting light objects (up to 20 lbs.) such as program materials and equipment.
  • Requires a flexible, adaptive approach to working in a dynamic and occasionally high-energy environment.


This position requires successful completion of an employment screening BCI/ FBI background check.
