About the Opportunity:
This is a key leadership opportunity with a well-established ESOP company in the heavy civil construction space. As Earthworks Superintendent, you’ll be responsible for driving safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of large-scale mass excavation and site development projects. This is a high-impact role for an experienced field leader who thrives in complex, multi-state projects and wants to make a tangible difference in both job outcomes and team development.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and supervise all on-site earthwork activities across projects in WV, OH, and PA
- Support Estimating by contributing to production rates, equipment planning, and manpower requirements
- Manage field operations, including subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and material delivery
- Interpret construction drawings and specs to ensure compliance and execution per contract
- Maintain daily and weekly reports, forecasts, and project documentation
- Proactively enforce safety, quality, and productivity across all field teams
- Coordinate regulatory compliance and ensure proper environmental and safety practices
- Host weekly foreman meetings and develop 2-week lookaheads
- Oversee and develop Foremen to ensure consistent performance and alignment with project goals
- Build strong relationships with project owners and internal teams
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of experience in Mass Excavation / Heavy Civil Site Development required
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mass excavation diagrams
- Strong leadership and field management skills
- Civil Engineering or related construction degree preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Proactive mindset with the ability to forecast and solve project issues
- Comfort working outdoors in varied terrain and weather
- Willingness to travel regularly across Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania
