Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team at The Slovene Home. The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in assisting with food preparation, meal service, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen to ensure that our residents receive the proper nutrition in a safe and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to the daily menu, ensuring that meals meet the dietary requirements of our residents.

Follow resident-specific dietary instructions (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed diets) and portion control standards.

Deliver meals to residents in a timely and respectful manner, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction with the food.

Set up and clean dining areas, including tables and food service stations, following sanitation guidelines.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and food storage areas, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

Assist with washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment after meal preparation.

Support the kitchen staff in inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of food supplies and notifying supervisors of low inventory levels.

Ensure safe food handling practices are followed at all times to avoid contamination and ensure food safety.

Respond to residents’ meal requests or preferences and relay any special needs or requests to the kitchen staff.

Adhere to all food safety regulations, including monitoring food temperatures, cleaning, and sanitizing surfaces and equipment.

Maintain accurate records, including meal counts and food safety logs.
Qualifications:

Previous experience in food service or dietary settings, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home environment.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.

Compassionate and friendly demeanor, with excellent customer service skills.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with residents, families, and staff effectively.

Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with special diets or in a healthcare setting.

Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Working Conditions:

Full-time/Part-time position available.

Flexible scheduling may be required to meet the needs of the nursing home.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
