Job DescriptionPosition Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team at The Slovene Home. The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in assisting with food preparation, meal service, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen to ensure that our residents receive the proper nutrition in a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to the daily menu, ensuring that meals meet the dietary requirements of our residents.

  • Follow resident-specific dietary instructions (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed diets) and portion control standards.

  • Deliver meals to residents in a timely and respectful manner, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction with the food.

  • Set up and clean dining areas, including tables and food service stations, following sanitation guidelines.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and food storage areas, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

  • Assist with washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment after meal preparation.

  • Support the kitchen staff in inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of food supplies and notifying supervisors of low inventory levels.

  • Ensure safe food handling practices are followed at all times to avoid contamination and ensure food safety.

  • Respond to residents’ meal requests or preferences and relay any special needs or requests to the kitchen staff.

  • Adhere to all food safety regulations, including monitoring food temperatures, cleaning, and sanitizing surfaces and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate records, including meal counts and food safety logs.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in food service or dietary settings, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home environment.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.

  • Compassionate and friendly demeanor, with excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with residents, families, and staff effectively.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with special diets or in a healthcare setting.

  • Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time/Part-time position available.

  • Flexible scheduling may be required to meet the needs of the nursing home.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
