Job Description

The Field Technician provides technical support to a large, varied user group and p participates in technical projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot all
    • computer hardware and software
    • projectors, Smart Boards, scanners, printers, and various peripherals
    • wired and wireless connections and devices.
  • Process warranty information and repair work with associated documentation.
  • Respond to all inquiries promptly.
  • Implement established hardware and software maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain an effective understanding of Information Technology as it progresses over time and contribute ideas to develop new solutions.
    Create and maintain detailed records & notes relating to projects, hardware, procedures, etc.
  • Consistently use official programs such as help desk ticketing, time tracking, etc.
  • Deal impartially and justly with all persons regardless of their physical, mental, emotional, political, economic, social, religious, or racial characteristics.
  • Support a collaborative working environment in which technology resources are available so that staff can perform efficiently and students can be successful learners.
  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff, school principals and teachers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, programming or related field, or substantial experience with Windows based computers, software and networking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to educate users as well as provide straight technical
    support.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning
    skills.
  • Experience with installation, maintenance and support of a large fleet / user base.
  • Experience with a wide variety of hardware and software, as typically used in an education
    environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, maintain the confidentiality of
    privileged information and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions or priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to consistently follow protocol and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently, and with a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment as needed.
