Job Title: Engineering Supervisor
The Engineering Supervisor (Manufacturing & Process) acts as a technical leader responsible for defining processes, enhancing existing equipment, and ensuring quality. This role provides day-to-day engineering support for single-piece flow manufacturing and collaborates closely with the Maintenance team. The position is pivotal in driving detailed work instructions, process definitions, and controls in partnership with the Quality department. Additionally, the supervisor leads continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product introductions, drives automation efforts, and enhances equipment to boost quality, consistency, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure production lines operate smoothly by addressing process weaknesses and equipment issues.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to develop reliability improvement strategies and preventive actions.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment, ensuring compliance with DoD and internal standards.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, process definitions, and control plans.
- Implement process controls to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to SQDIP priorities (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity).
- Drive continuous improvement events and Lean initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize cycle times.
- Collaborate with Value Stream Managers to identify improvement opportunities.
- Validate new processes and equipment.
- Work with design, quality, and operations teams to achieve successful ramp-up and production readiness.
- Supervise and mentor Manufacturing Engineers.
- Train engineers in lean principles and continuous improvement tools.
- Ensure adherence to DoD security and compliance requirements.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in process and manufacturing engineering within a high-volume environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement culture, and project management.
- Familiarity with DoD compliance standards.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Experience supporting NPI launches and integrating new products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical expertise in manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, and process control.
- Ability to lead root cause analysis and structured problem-solving (5Y, 8D).
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement events, and 5S implementation.
Work Environment
The role involves a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the supervisor spending 50% of the time on the floor and 50% at their desk. The facility has been recently remodeled and features an extremely clean manufacturing environment. Candidates should be aware that processes may not be clearly defined, and there's potential ambiguity with limited structure. The work will include training manufacturing engineers and overseeing direct reports.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
