Who We Seek
Are you a skilled CNC programmer and machinist with expertise in HyperMill, a passion for CAD design using SolidWorks, and a drive for execution and innovation? GS Engineering is looking for a CNC Programming and Machining Supervisor to oversee our CNC shop operations, lead a team of machinists, and mentor apprentices through our state-registered apprenticeship program. In this role, you’ll program 2D and 3D CAM software, design tooling, ensure on-time delivery, and drive process improvements in automotive tooling manufacturing. Essential Duties
Program 2D and 3D CNC machines using HyperMill CAM software
Create and modify tooling designs using SolidWorks CAD software.
Execute machining operations with precision, ensuring part accuracy and meeting production deadlines.
Optimize machining and design processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Lead and schedule the CNC production team, prioritizing execution, safety, and quality.
Mentor apprentices through the state-registered apprenticeship program, providing hands-on training and feedback.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to align on priorities.
Drive innovation by adopting new machining and CAD technologies.
Ensure quality control and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Expertise in SolidWorks CAD software for tooling design.
Strong knowledge of Tool & Die design, machining processes, and material properties.
Exceptional leadership, execution, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving skills.
High emotional maturity, resilience, and adaptability to new technologies.
Ability to lift 10–50 pounds and perform physical tasks in a production environment.
Preferred but not Required:
- Advanced experience in HyperMill CAM software for CNC programming; experience with MasterCam.
- MasterCam certification.
- SolidWorks Professional or Associate certification (e.g., CSWP, CSWA).
- Completion of HyperMill training courses (HyperMILL Training).
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Education and Experience
High school diploma and Completion of a State Registered Apprenticeship program required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field a plus.
3–7 years of experience in CNC programming, machining, and CAD design (SolidWorks preferred), with 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in automotive tooling or thermoforming manufacturing preferred.
