About the Role:

The Medical Assistant at Fulton County Health Clinic plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services. This position involves performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to facilitate patient care, including preparing patients for examinations, collecting and processing specimens, and managing medical instruments. The Medical Assistant will work closely with Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care while maintaining a safe and sterile environment. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with patients and staff, including answering phones and scheduling appointments, to enhance the overall patient experience. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to the clinic’s mission by providing compassionate, efficient, and accurate support in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential.
  • Proven experience in medical assisting, including phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization techniques.
  • Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a community health clinic or similar healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Nurse Practitioner workflows and clinical procedures.
  • Additional certifications in phlebotomy or patient care.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples following proper protocols and safety standards.
  • Process and label specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
  • Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms to ensure infection control.
  • Assist Nurse Practitioners during patient examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments and answering phones professionally.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Educate patients on basic healthcare procedures and clinic policies when appropriate.

The required skills such as Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, and Vital Signs measurement are essential for performing clinical tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
