Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department Holding Unit position in Ohio requiring an active OH or compact license and strong critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in the Emergency Department Holding Unit of a hospital
- Caring for a diverse patient population including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Staffing ratio is 1:4 patients per nurse
- Telemetry and stepdown/PCU level care with cardiac monitoring
- Night shift schedule, working three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Use of Epic for documentation
- Provide stepdown and PCU level care for patients held in the ER
- Utilize rapid response team protocols as needed
- Manage wound vacs and non-invasive respiratory equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP
- No time off approved from 2/15/26 through 2/28/26
- Completion of Ohio fingerprinting process is required as soon as possible after contract acceptance
- Orientation and training provided onsite
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a relevant setting
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Proficiency in telemetry and dysrhythmia management
- Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin and heparin protocols, renal failure management, blood product administration, tracheostomy management, wound care, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience using Epic EMR documentation system
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor in a formal leadership role
- Former employees must have been separated for at least 6 months to qualify
