The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for the daily fabrication activities within the plant which include blueprint reading, layout, fabrication, assembly, welding, cutting, torching, and grinding. In addition, this position may involve loading and unloading all inbound and outbound freight, supplies and machinery as well as directing other fabricators in the facility.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and piping schematics
  • Able to read a measuring tape
  • Intermediate knowledge of welding, cutting, torching, grinding, drilling, and tapping
  • Able to layout, fabricate, and assemble assemblies
  • Able to read and interpret tools to produce a level, plumb and square assembly
  • Mechanically inclined with hand tools and power tools.  (Grinders, cut off grinders, drill press, hammer, sockets, wrenches, etc)
  • Primary welding is MIG and Dual Sheild wire. (Plate, structural steel & pipe)
  • Weld carbon steel (including plate, structural steel, and pipe)
  • Weld stainless steel (including plate, structural steel, and pipe)
  • Able to weld out of position
  • Able to climb ladders and work off the ground up to 12’ or higher, as required
  • Load/unload freight and move material within the plant
  • Operate large machinery such as forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Operate other machinery such as aerial lifts, drill presses, belt sanders, saws, and pipe threaders
  • Maintain quality of manufactured equipment
  • Actual welding time for this position is only 10% – 15% of time.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment
  • Fabrication experience with large, intricate machinery preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fork truck experience and current fork truck license preferred
  • Ability to rig, sling and use overhead crane to lift work pieces
  • Ability to track and report time spent on projects using time and attendance system
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Intermediate knowledge of and the ability to read and interpret blue prints
  • Intermediate knowledge of measuring systems, including standard and metric, and the ability to read a tape measure
  • The position involves reading, writing, mathematics and measuring
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and have the ability to climb, stand, stoop or kneel for extended periods of time
