Overview:
Our Cloud Transformation and Operations team is responsible for driving the evolution of cloud capabilities and maintaining the company’s broader data center infrastructure. We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Cloud Engineering and Operations to lead our cloud transformation initiatives, manage hybrid infrastructure, and deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions aligned with business priorities.
This leadership role oversees cloud and on-premise hosting environments, network services, and end-user collaboration platforms. The ideal candidate will shape and execute our cloud strategy, guide infrastructure modernization, manage key vendor relationships, and lead high-performing teams through transformational change.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Assess current infrastructure and application landscape for cloud readiness.
- Develop detailed cloud migration strategies, including timelines, cost estimates, and risk mitigation plans.
- Define cloud architecture standards and select optimal platforms (Azure, AWS, Private Cloud) based on business and technical needs.
- Promote innovation, Agile collaboration, and DevOps practices across teams.
Cloud Migration & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end migration of workloads and applications to the cloud.
- Guide re-architecture, data migration, and infrastructure provisioning with minimal business disruption.
- Partner cross-functionally with architects, security, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient cloud solutions.
- Drive continuous delivery, automation, and full lifecycle ownership of services.
Optimization & Operations
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and security.
- Implement cloud-native and hybrid architectures to support modernization.
- Define and enforce operational policies (SLAs, DR, data retention, security).
- Oversee incident management, CMDB, asset management, and service delivery.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Manage vendor relationships, including staff augmentation and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with IT, business units, and security teams to align priorities and manage technical debt.
- Communicate transformation plans, progress, and KPIs to executive stakeholders.
- Develop talent and ensure teams stay current with cloud technologies and industry trends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years in cloud architecture and infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, security).
- Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Private Cloud) and services.
- Proven leadership in cloud migration (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, re-factoring).
- 7+ years of experience leading and managing technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- PMI knowledge and familiarity with project management frameworks.
- Multi-cloud environment expertise.
- Azure or AWS certifications.
- Experience in the gas or utility industry.
- Understanding of modeling, simulation, and testing best practices.
