Job Description

Job DescriptionTitle: Field Service Engineer Location: Columbus, OH Pay Rate: $35–$45/hour + mileage reimbursement + 5% bonus (based on location, experience, education, and skill level)
Schedule: Always on-call (nights, weekends, holidays)
Hours: 40–50 hours per week on average
Travel: 100% regional travel required
Vehicle: Must use personal vehicle
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x
Company credit card provided for gas, parking, meals, and job-related expenses
Requirements

  • 3–5 years of electrical experience, including high-voltage work
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical skills
  • Excellent client communication and customer service abilities
  • Must be reliable, flexible, and comfortable working on-call

What You’ll Do

  • Perform installation supervision, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of low-voltage distribution gear, transformers, and related power equipment

  • Prepare technical reports, test sheets, and track tools, spare parts, and consumables

  • Follow safety regulations for both company standards and customer sites

  • Attend onsite meetings and coordinate with Project Management teams

  • Communicate regularly with Project Managers to share updates and escalate needs

  • Deliver high-quality customer service and represent the company professionally

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste

  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements

  • Perform additional duties as needed

What You Bring

  • Associate degree in Electrical Power Distribution or 5+ years of relevant field service experience

  • Military experience preferred

  • Data center or mission-critical system experience a plus

  • Hands-on experience with:
    – Electrical power distribution systems
    – Power monitoring systems
    – AC/DC electrical power
    – Communication protocols

  • 3–5 years experience with low-voltage switchgear or power distribution equipment (preferred)

  • Knowledge of UL standards (UL67, UL1008, UL1008S, UL60950, UL891, UL1558, etc.)

  • Ability to read electrical schematics

  • Ability to use electrical test equipment (multimeters, current meters, etc.)
