A professional Cardiovascular Technologist I role is available in Van Wert, OH, offering a contract opportunity focused on supporting diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures. This position is ideal for individuals beginning their career in the catheterization lab (Cath Lab) environment, with training provided to assist physicians, operate specialized equipment, and maintain sterile technique during procedures primarily involving adult and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train to assist interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists during facility-specific cardiovascular cath and electrophysiology (EP) procedures.
  • Perform monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles while ensuring patient and procedural safety.
  • Prep and educate patients for procedures, including pre- and post-procedural care instructions.
  • Maintain sterile technique and comply with safety protocols, including patient identification and procedural verification.
  • Participate in cath or EP lab call rotations after competency verification.
  • Support departmental operations such as equipment preparation, stock maintenance, record keeping, and compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and team members, enhancing the patient experience with proper scripting and privacy measures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • GED or Associate/Bachelors degree in Health Science, or equivalent medical experience (e.g., LPN, RT, EMT/Paramedic).
  • Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) program preferred.
  • Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a medical setting preferred; cath lab experience a plus but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular procedures, electrocardiography, and patient care protocols.
  • Ability to respond promptly in emergency situations and maintain professional relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts per week.
  • On-call hours as needed, including some weekends and holidays.
  • Weekend commitment: at least every other weekend.
  • Holiday commitment: minimum two major and two minor holidays annually.
