About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Project Manager (APM) to join our team. The APM will play a critical role in supporting the full project lifecycle, from initial bidding through to final billing. This position requires a proactive individual capable of working both independently and collaboratively, ensuring our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Assist in overseeing all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction (bidding) through project close-out (billing and final review).
- Monitor and maintain the project schedule, providing regular, timely updates to the management team.
- Conduct site visits and communicate regularly with the Site Supervisor regarding project progress, logistics, and on-site challenges.
- Monitor project progress, adjust costs as necessary, and consistently evaluate the profitability of projects.
- Troubleshoot challenges that arise on-site and promptly communicate solutions and status to the management team.
Logistics and Administration
- Perform material take-offs from blueprints to accurately calculate and determine required materials.
- Purchase materials and schedule material deliveries, coordinating logistics with the Site Supervisor and suppliers.
- Obtain required permits, managing the process either online or in person as necessitated by the municipality.
- Communicate with customers regarding important updates on permits and material delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with the Accounting department to ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing and project cost tracking.
- Establish and maintain a process for tool and part inventory.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or management team.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a construction-related role is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in construction project coordination, management, or field supervision.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and proactive approach.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in all work, from calculations to documentation.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, as well as function effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The work of an Associate Project Manager is a combination of office and field work.
- Ability to conduct site visits regularly, which may include traversing rough terrain, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
