Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing the Quality Assurance Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that plants (3) consistently achieve and maintain company Quality standards. The Primary role supports the achievement of the corporate quality objectives including but not limited to Quality Assurance, Quality Control & related activities within the guidelines of the Company’s Quality Management System. Additionally, the role will support concrete technology initiatives, standards, reporting, training, and development.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Accountable to establish annual regional goals aligned with the corporate strategic quality objectives & initiatives.
- Accountable for developing and maintaining detailed plans for all major quality related Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives necessary for the realization of annual goals.
- Conducting monthly, quarterly & annual Quality performance reviews and participate in Daily Management Meeting (DMM) reviews
- Responsible for adhering to the following Leader standard Work
- Support regional manufacturing operations as required for related Quality issues / opportunities including but limited to training, problem solving, …etc.
- Develop & maintain mix designs and ensure compliance with M curve requirements, ASTM/CSA standards, etc. This includes but is not limited to:
- Evaluation of raw materials as received by the facility
- Communication with suppliers in the event of materials being out of target specifications.
- Review all proposed changes to mix designs from local Plant Management and obtain necessary approval prior to implementation.
- Provide guidance & training to plant personnel as required re Concrete Technology, QMS…etc.
- Run samples as required in support of sales requests
- Development of new products and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS – Required Skills/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering) or equivalent work history
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) / PCI (Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute) or MCPX (Manufactured Concrete Products) or equivalent certification
- 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a quality role in the building materials space, preferably in concrete construction.
- Formal Lean Six Sigma training, ideally green belt certification.
- Strong analytical abilities (regression analysis, data collection …etc)
- Must have excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Report writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to travel (50% day travel, occasional meetings outside region
