What we're looking for:
We are seeking a full-time Regional Maintenance Trainer to join us at our Corporate Headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Regional Maintenance Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, supporting and maintaining a comprehensive maintenance training program for onsite maintenance teams across a portfolio of multifamily properties. This role focuses on enhancing the technical skills, safety practices, and operational efficiencies of maintenance staff to ensure high standards of property upkeep, resident satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This role requires occasional travel to properties within our Cincinnati, Ohio and Indiana portfolio. Additional responsibilites include:
Training & Development:
- Design and deliver technical and operational training for maintenance technicians and supervisors.
- Facilitate onboarding for new maintenance hires, including hands-on training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, and preventative maintenance.
- Conduct regional training workshops and one-on-one sessions, both in person and virtually, as needed.
- Develop training materials, manuals, videos, and job aids aligned with company standards and industry best practices.
- Monitor training effectiveness and retention through skills assessments, feedback, and follow-up evaluations.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure maintenance staff are trained in OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and oversee the implementation of safety practices in the field.
- Track certification renewals (e.g., HVAC, CPO, OSHA) and coordinate required recertification trainings.
Operational Support:
- Partner with Regional Managers and Community Managers to identify training needs and performance gaps.
- Serve as a resource for troubleshooting complex maintenance issues at properties.
- Conduct field evaluations to assess skills application, quality standards, and equipment use.
- Support rollout and training of new maintenance technologies, tools, and systems.
- Serve as on-site support for teams that are understaffed.
Program Development & Reporting:
- Continuously enhance the maintenance training curriculum based on feedback, performance trends, and industry developments.
- Maintain detailed records of trainee progress, certifications, and training sessions.
- Provide regular reports and updates to leadership on training impact and maintenance team development.
The ideal Regional Maintenance Trainer will have:
- 5+ years of hands-on multifamily maintenance experience, with advanced knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair.
- 2+ years of training, mentoring, or supervisory experience in a multifamily maintenance setting.
- EPA type II Certification minimum.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally.
- Strong communication, coaching, and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance software platforms (e.g., Yardi, RealPage)
