Intern Title: 2026 Lewis Institute intern (unpaid)

Department: Education and Development

Reports to: assistant director for leadership and learning

Location: Columbus, Ohio or Fayetteville, AR


Time Commitment: Session #1: Monday, June 8-Sunday, June 14 (Fayetteville, AR)

Or

Session #2: Monday, July 13-Sunday, July 19 (Columbus, OH)

Or

Session #3: Monday, July 20-Sunday, July 26 (Columbus, OH)

Must be on site during the duration of the internship (7 days, 6 nights)

All travel, accommodations and meals will be provided during the internship.

Two interns will be selected for each Lewis Institute session. In your application, please indicate the session(s) you would be available to participate in. Note that interns will only be selected to participate in one session and will be notified of session placement as part of the internship selection process.

Responsibilities:

· Assist with onsite registration

· Serve as an onsite contact person for campus staff

· Ensure large group and break out rooms are equipped with necessary supplies

· Complete room setups

· Serve as a role model to all Lewis participants

· Encourage dialogue amongst Lewis participants

· Collect feedback from facilitators

· Pack up all materials at the conclusion of the Institute

· Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Qualifications:

· Demonstrated commitment to creating inclusive environments where belonging is valued

· Membership in Delta Gamma Fraternity required

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Professionalism when working with collegians, volunteers and staff

· Exhibit a high level of flexibility and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently

· Desire to share personal experience with Lewis and/or leadership experiences to participants

· Demonstrated application of Lewis curriculum in leadership activities

Requirements:

As a result of serving as a Lewis Institute event intern, you will:

· Gain event logistics and management skills

· Learn how to manage and work with campus partners

· Navigate working independently to problem solve

· Understand learning curriculum design and process of implementing leadership curriculum

· Learn about the role of a facilitator, facilitator training, and gain practice in developing facilitation skills

· Improve public speaking and presentation skills

· Explore assessment development and opportunities to evaluate current programs for improvement

· Have an opportunity to network and meet student leaders and professionals from college campuses across North America

· Be well supervised and participate in a meaningful learning experience

· Not replace or displace any employee of the organization
