Job Description

Job DescriptionStep into a day where quality drives every decision

Start your morning walking the production floor, reviewing last night’s build data. You’ll spot trends, validate fixes, and partner with production engineering to keep our automotive lighting and electronic components performing flawlessly. By mid-day you’re facilitating a cross‑functional review: converting defect analysis into corrective actions, updating PQCTs with insights from FMEA and GPAC‑V, and aligning stakeholders on customer expectations. You close the day mentoring a new engineer through a process audit, translating metrics into meaningful improvement.

About the company

We’re a full‑service, tier‑one automotive supplier focused on lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components. Our facility brings together lighting and mold design, construction, production engineering, and dedicated teams across Quality, Assembly, Sales, and Customer Service. We operate on innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do

  • Investigate and resolve production and new‑model development quality concerns using audits, defect analysis, and cross‑functional problem solving.
  • Assess internal product, process, and equipment issues through data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Act as the conduit between internal teams and external partners to protect product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Set, sustain, and monitor quality standards to ensure consistent manufacturing performance.
  • Build and maintain PQCTs leveraging FMEA and GPAC‑V so potential failure modes are anticipated and controlled.
  • Lead and participate in process audits; drive corrective and preventive action reviews to address nonconformances.
  • Document and communicate customer and internal concerns using reports and performance metrics; track closure to completion.
  • Analyze monthly performance data to pinpoint opportunities and lead corrective initiatives.
  • Coordinate packaging trials with collaborating departments to confirm compliance with quality criteria.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching to new engineers.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

What success looks like

  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Sound critical thinking paired with practical problem‑solving.
  • Comfort operating independently and within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 3–6 years of experience for Engineer II, or 4–7 years for Engineer III, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in quality within the automotive supplier space; familiarity with Japanese automakers and JIT environments is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, PQCT, capability studies, and GD&T.
  • Experience in plastic injection molding and process improvement is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of ISO 9000 and AIAG standards.

Work conditions

  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Time split between office (~4 hours/day) and manufacturing floor (~4 hours/day).
  • Occasional overnight travel for training or site support.
  • Overtime as required to meet customer deadlines.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Tuition reimbursement and additional benefits.
