Job Title: Auto and Marine Detailer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto and Marine Detailer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning, polishing, and protecting the interior and exterior surfaces of automobiles, boats, yachts, and other marine vessels to the highest standards. This role requires a strong eye for detail, physical stamina, and a passion for making vehicles and watercraft look showroom-new.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full interior and exterior detailing on cars, trucks, SUVs, boats, RVs, and yachts
  • Wash, clay, compound, polish, and wax exterior paint and gelcoat surfaces
  • Clean and dress tires, wheels, wheel wells, and trim
  • Shampoo and extract carpets, upholstery, and floor mats
  • Clean and condition leather, vinyl, plastic, and wood surfaces
  • Clean and polish glass, mirrors, and chrome/stainless steel accents
  • Perform engine bay cleaning and dressing
  • Apply ceramic coatings, paint protection film (PPF), or sealants (when trained/certified)
  • Clean and detail marine-specific areas: teak decks, eisenglass/strataglass, canvas/biminis, stainless railings, etc.
  • Remove water spots, oxidation, light scratches, and swirl marks
  • Operate buffers, extractors, steam cleaners, pressure washers, and other detailing equipment safely
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and products
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets company quality standards
  • Communicate with customers about service recommendations and completed work
  • Occasionally assist with light mechanical tasks (headlight restoration, odor removal, minor paint touch-up, etc.)

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous professional auto or marine detailing experience strongly preferred (1–3+ years)
  • Knowledge of marine-specific materials (gelcoat, teak, eisenglass, stainless, canvas) is a major plus
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (may need to move customer vehicles)
  • Ability to safely operate a boat on water for sea trials/wet testing (boating certification or experience preferred)
  • Physically able to stand, bend, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions
  • Familiarity with professional detailing products and tools ( Rupes, Flex, Gtechniq, NanoPro, 3D, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays during peak seasons
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Certification from IDA (International Detailing Association), Rightlook, Detail King, or similar
  • Experience applying ceramic coatings or paint protection film
  • Boating license or marine detailing portfolio
  • Sales or customer-service background

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Working in hot/cold environments and around water
  • Lifting and carrying buckets, tools, and equipment
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (proper PPE provided)
