Step onto our production floor and into a hands-on role where craftsmanship meets pace. As a Fenestration Assembly Technician, your day starts by reviewing production tickets and planning the sequence of builds—from exterior single units to side lights, double doors, patio venting units, triples, and cut downs. You’ll assemble lock and hinge sides, fit headers, attach jambs, and set sills for exterior, patio, and interior fire-rated door units with precision.
What you'll do
- Interpret production tickets; measure, cut, and build custom brick mold and sills; confirm unit sizing and glass specifications.
- Manually assemble door frames and secure to the slab using pneumatic and manual tools in a fast-paced environment.
- Apply correct sills and hinges; ensure proper door handing; attach jambs (including correct species) to meet quality standards.
- Apply appropriate fire-rated labels in the correct locations.
- Build all unit types within the assembler department to customer specifications, meeting COQ and efficiency goals.
- Work with minimal supervision while verifying the quality, accuracy, and count of raw materials; confirm correct material species and sizes.
What you bring
- Strong product knowledge and the ability to read/interpret production tickets.
- Basic Masterpak knowledge required.
- Understanding of door handing, jamb species, sill and hinge application, and fire-label placement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- Ability to read and understand English (required).
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Steel toe shoes required.
- Reliable transportation; valid driver’s license preferred.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, stoop, push, and manage multiple parts at pace; excellent manual dexterity.
Schedule and pay
Hourly rate: $18.00–$19.00 plus benefits, based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay details are specific to Vandalia and may differ at other locations.
Hours: 1st shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; overtime as posted. Saturdays 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. as required/scheduled.
