Job Title: Design Engineer – Reverse Engineering & Product Improvement
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on reverse engineering existing products, analyzing their design and functionality, and developing enhanced solutions that improve performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and product development, with a passion for continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse Engineer Existing Products:
Disassemble, analyze, and document current product designs to understand functionality, materials, and manufacturing processes. - Improve Product Designs:
Identify weaknesses or inefficiencies in existing designs and propose innovative solutions to enhance durability, performance, and cost-effectiveness. - Develop CAD Models & Technical Drawings:
Create accurate 3D models and detailed drawings using industry-standard CAD software (Inventor, NX, AutoCAD). - Collaborate Across Teams:
Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and customer teams to ensure design improvements align with production capabilities and customer requirements. - Material & Process Optimization:
Recommend alternative materials or processes to improve product quality and reduce costs. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain thorough records of design changes, and improvement recommendations. - Compliance & Standards:
Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years in product design or reverse engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software and GD&T principles.
- Experience with Inventor is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, injection molding, etc.).
- Familiarity with material properties and selection.
- Preferred: Experience with FEA analysis and rapid prototyping.
