As a Construction Inspector at Environmental Design Group, you will:

<li>This position will include primarily field work with some office work. </li>

Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.</li>
<li>Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects.</li>
<li>Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects. </li>
<li>Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.</li>
<li>Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects. </li>
<li>Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work. </li>
<li>Possibly conduct hazardous material surveys, as well as asbestos abatement monitoring services during abatement projects. </li>
<li>Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.</li>
<li>Notify the Project Engineer with status updates or non-conforming work.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager. </li>

Minimum Qualifications:

<li>Strong plus if you have completed the ODOT Certified Technician program…. OR…
<ul>
<li>Has a Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering or Construction Management.</li>

<li>Technical school or Community college graduate.
<ul>
<li>Preferred: Associate Degree with 2+ years of additional related work experience. </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>2+ years of related experience. </li>
<li>Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.</li>
<li>Previous experience working for a testing company. </li>
<li>Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing.</li>
<li>Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc. </li>
<li>Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections and/or CWI/NDT inspectors.</li>

Responsibilities:

<li>Responsible for testing, inspecting, and reporting on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, utility location, vertical and horizontal digging, as examples. </li>
